Empathy

Exactly two months ago, I sensed one of the most empathetical situations in my life. I went to Canadian Tier to buy a grocery cart where I wanted after that to have heavy variety groceries as I do it once a month. After I bought the grocery cart, I decided to fix it in few steps in front of Canadian Tier. While I was preoccupied how to fix it, I saw on the picture of the cart that it needs a small hummer to link its tiers into the body cart. Suddenly, an old woman, she looks like 55-60 years old, came close to me and told me (with her Latin accent) to put the cart’s tools on the small table that was in corner. I thanked her, and I told her that I can fix it easily; however, she noticed that I hadn't the hummer. Amazingly, she picked up a small hummer from her bag and tried to fix my tiers’ cart!! I laughed a lot when I witnessed that. Imagine a woman picks up a hummer from her bag and hand it to you! It is unpredictable that stranger helps you in that way. I asked her: “ma’am, how do you have a hummer in your bag?
She answered: “I have a problem with my tiers’ cart, so some times I need the hummer to fix up them”. Actually, she was so kind with me, and even she guided me to some specific details of the grocery cart as well. I thanked her a lot, and I was very happy that day by this astonishing situation. In fact, I realized how being kind with others even when they do not ask you is very important and it has a great affects on their personal life.

Video Games

In my opinion, everyone is apt to kind of flow from the real world. Some people aim to speak, read, search, paint, and play. Playing video games are sort of flow from the real world especially through their amazing stimulations and motivations that keep the player inevitable away from the reality. However, video games like a weapon with tow edges. They have positive effects due to driving the player to forget his/her social and psychological problems. For example, on myself, if I am sad, depressed, or have a problem with my friend, I prefer to do something tends me away from the problem such playing video games, singing, taking a shower, or going to the park. But obviously, it is not the solution; it is a temporal solution as a stage that can lighten and soften coping with the problem before dealing with it directly. On the other hand, flowing too much also has negative effects. Non controllable and over playing video games create serious disadvantages. They can damage the person’s life and lead him/her to suffer socially, psychologically, educationally, and healthily as well. Video games addictions hide the user from his/her family, exploit his/her feeling and senses for the game rather than others, and minimize his /her motivation to study. Also, they can cause a mental and eye problems as a result of over concentration for a long time. However, the actual responsible for the video games is the consumer. Neither the producer of the games nor the government can take any action if the consumer has not considered video games as a priority in his/her life. The more consumers pay attention to the product, the more stimulation they create for the business where this can circulatory affect on the government.

In conclusion, good controlling while playing video games is crucial. However, I lean to leave playing it and try to do some thing more beneficial to myself as well as others.

Three questions...do they have right answers?

THINK ABOUT THREE QUESTIONS

In reality, there are three questions that every one frequently asks, where did we come from or who creates us? Why are we in this world? And then where will we go after we die?
Actually, these questions are asked by instinct of human being, and we often hear these questions from children asking their parents. In fact, what ever religion or believes that we embraced, these questions are determining our identity, that who we are? Muslims, Christians, Jews, Atheists,...etc.
There are some philosophers who do believe that answering these questions logically guarantee our real happiness in our lives or even in our lives after death (for people who believe the life after life).

The Benefits of Massage Therapy:

As massage obviously eliminates pain and stress, consequently, it cures many different illnesses. Massage stimulates the body’s natural system against toxic invaders. For example, in breast cancer, massage increases the cells that fight cancer (Touch). Also it motivates endorphin, the body pain killer, and is being used to control the pain from illness and promotes recovery the patient from surgery as well. For example, “in a study of postoperative pain in 116 patients who underwent thoracic surgery, the assessed their pain before and after massage by making it on a scale from 1 to 10. After being massaged, their pain level significantly decreased”. In addition, it solves headache and migraine or at least reduced their pain significantly. For instance, in a study on 21 women who suffered from headache and migraine, they received massage carefully. At the end of the study, the headache and migraine have significantly decreased and in some cases have disappeared, besides increasing the serotonin level in the brain (Touch).
Massage is a servant for many body disorders. It is a good solution for sleep deficits. As massage reduces the pain and increases the relaxation in the body, it promotes deep sleep which is responsible for growth hormone, and releases another chemical called substance P which is responsible for eliminating the pain in the body. Furthermore, it copes with immune disorders, because it enables the body to receive adequate chemical hormones as a result of adequate sleep, relaxing, and stress and pain relieving. It also improves the range of motion which eliminates the chronic pain in the lower back. In addition, it relieves anxiety from students and patients as well. For example, in a study in a medical school in New Jersey, it was shown that students and cancer patients who receive massage appropriately, have less anxiety and stress, and lower respiratory rate (holisticonline.com).

Discrimination

Before 1429 years ago, the prophet Mohammad, the messenger from the God, the greatest leader in Muslims’ nation (peace upon him) has propagandized and made serious objections against discrimination among people. He considered the racism as a gloomy backwardness for the humanity. Undoubtly, he was always guiding the unity to the community and resisting the discrimination, and he said in his famous sentence “there is no different among whites, blacks, and reds people unless in fear of God or doing goodness to them self as well as others”. So he believed that there is only one thing that discriminate colorful people which is the good action or good doing. In fact, what ever color or race that people have, the Good doers can obviously distinguish them selves among all people by how goodness they handle for their society and the humanity. Actually, in my opinion, if the developed countries have taken this advice before half century, I would not write this paragraph today.

A True Short Story

THE GINGHAM DRESS

A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off thetrain in Boston, and walked timidly without an appointment into the Harvard University President's outer office. The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard & probably didn't even deserve to be in Cambridge. 'We'd like to see the president,' the man said softly. 'He'll be busy all day,' the secretary snapped. 'We'll wait,' the lady replied. For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn't, and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always regretted. 'Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they'll leave,' she said to him! He sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone ofhis importance obviously didn't have the time to spend with them, and he detested gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office. The president, stern faced and with dignity, strutted toward the couple. The lady told him, 'We had a son who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus.' The president wasn't touched. He was shocked. 'Madam,' he said, gruffly, 'we can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery.' 'Oh, no,' the lady explained quickly. 'We don't want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.' The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, then exclaimed, 'A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard.' For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now. The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, 'Is that all it costs to start a university? Why don't we just start our own?' Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, traveling to Palo Alto, California where they established the university that bears their name, Stanford University, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about. You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for

In reality, today I have the first experience in Vanier Library. It’s quiet and calm. However I reached there at 5:50 PM so I have only half an hour to ask the librarian about my books because they work till 6 PM where they close the library at 10 PM. Tomorrow I will hang in the class the bus schedule , just in case if you want to go there.
